Since
its birth as a sleepy fishing village in 1927, Puerto Peņasco (Rocky
Point) has become an active tourist center. While fishing and shrimping
are still principal activities, tourists enjoy beach activities,
nightlife, sportsbook and off-track betting, boating, fishing, and
miles of sand dunes.

With great restaurants,
shopping, and hotel accommodations, Rocky Point has become the #1
Mexican tourist destination for Arizonans.
|
The beautiful port, only
an hour from the U.S. border, is noted for its outstanding ocean
views and desert landscape. The area is dominated by "El Pinacate",
a volcanic region with enormous craters, world famous because of
its resemblance to the surface of the Moon.

New developments have
started at Playa La Jolla and Costa Diamante. The primary residential
areas in Rocky Point are: Las Conchas, a gated beachfront residences
only community; Cholla Bay, an active beach community with awesome
views featuring social and sports activities sponsored
through JJs Cantina; and Miramar, an area with nearby hotels,
restaurants, and RV resorts. Just south of Rocky Point new residential
beachfront areas are rapidly developing.
